Think of him as a balance of speed and power with an emphasis on power. He has TONS of meteor smashes so practice jumping off the edge, attacking with a meteor smash, and getting back up. Moves I recommend using more often are the up, down, and side-A, tap down A, aerial neutral A, aerial back A, aerial up A, neutral B, side B, and up B. Moves I recommend avoiding using too often are aerial down A (It's super slow and leaves you very vulnerable if used too close above land), down B (unless used in conjunction with side B), tap up A, and tap side A (These moves can be predictable and easily countered), and aerial forward A. (as it is very time consuming and can leave you open if you hit the floor before it's done.)
Donkey Kong is really fun to play with due to his power, weight, and meteor smashes. He also has good reach and decent speed. I hope I helped you with your Donkey Kong training!
Oh my word, you said lots! Nah, actually this is really useful. I really love Donkey Kong's earthquake (he slaps the ground, lol!), his grab move which I love tormenting the opponents by throwing off the edge, and his Up B move. Yrah, DK's fun to use, but still, I need to get use to. Thanks! ^^
